Poderi Colla Costa Bruna Barbera d’Alba 2022

Sourced from Poderi Colla’s Tenuta Roncaglia estate south of Barbaresco, this Barbera is grown at 250 meters altitude on a west-facing vineyard with 5,500 vines per hectare. A portion of the vineyard, replanted in 1995, preserves half a hectare of old vines from 1930, yielding intensely concentrated fruit. Hand-harvested in late September, the grapes undergo fermentation with 10–12 days of skin contact, followed by malolactic fermentation before winter. The wine matures for 8 to 12 months in a mix of Slavonian and French oak, partially new, before light fining and bottling. The result is a Barbera of remarkable depth, balancing vibrant fruit, structure, and refined texture.
