Martinelli "Giuseppe & Luisa" Zinfandel 2020

The Martinelli family has farmed the Russian River Valley since 1887, when young Giuseppe and Luisa Martinelli arrived from Tuscany and began planting vines. Five generations later, the estate still produces small lots of powerful, site-driven wines from their own vineyards, fermented with native yeasts and bottled with minimal intervention.

Giuseppe & Luisa 2020 opens with engulfing aromas of ripe plum, toasted almond, white pepper, candied cherry, and raspberry. The palate is juicy and dense, showing bright red cherry, raspberry, and spice with balanced acidity that carries through to a fresh, stone-fruit finish. It is a rich, heady Zinfandel that reflects both the warmth of the vintage and the family’s long history with the variety.
