2019 Celani Estate Chardonnay

Celani Family Vineyards is a small, family owned estate in Napa’s Oak Knoll District. Owner Tom Celani prefers a Burgundian style of Chardonnay, and winemaker Mark Herold delivers exactly that. Whole cluster pressed fruit, fermentation on the lees, partly in concrete eggs to preserve freshness, 40% new French oak, and fully blocked malolactic fermentation to retain natural acidity.

The 2019 opens with a dazzling aromatic landscape of crisp apple, Bosc pear, tropical flowers, kiwi, and brioche. Secondary notes of night jasmine, lemongrass, and guava emerge with air. The palate is complex and crisp, carrying real weight and viscosity that stay balanced by intense fruit and floral flavors. The finish is long and lingering, with notes of toasted oak and roasted nuts.
