2023 Mayacamas Vineyards Red Wine

High on the slopes of Mount Veeder, Mayacamas Vineyards has been crafting legendary California wine since 1889. The estate sits at 1,800–2,400 feet, where volcanic soils and extreme diurnal shifts produce wines of remarkable precision and structure. Winemaking here remains classical and consistent, careful block by block work, long élevage in mostly neutral oak, and a focus on site over style.

Composed of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, it shows aromatic depth and precision with layered notes of black cherry, plum, and ripe cranberry, lifted by lavender and sarsaparilla. The palate is firm and focused, with bright acidity and a texture that speaks of the mountain. Elegant, nuanced, and built for the long haul.

From the winery:

Our 2023 Red Blend is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Cabernet Franc (21%) and Merlot (19%). Grapes were hand harvested, cluster sorted and de-stemmed on a block-by-block basis. Fermentation and maceration was completed in concrete (62%), stainless steel (35%) and neutral French oak 500L (3%) – with an average of 17 days on skins. The wines were aged a total of 21 Months in oak – 12 months in Foudre, 600L and 500L and 9 months in neutral French 225L barrel.
