2023 Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet Vosne-Romanée

Amélie Berthaut returned to the family domaines in Fixin in 2013, combined her father’s and mother’s holdings, and has quietly transformed the wines into something refined, pure, and deeply expressive. Working with her husband Nicolas Faure, she farms with care and vinifies with a lighter, more precise hand than previous generations, with less extraction and more perfume.

This vintage is drawn mainly from Aux Réas and Au Dessus de la Rivière. It opens with sweet red and dark berries, orange zest, violet, exotic jasmine tea and spice. First sip is medium-bodied, ample and powdery, with fine tannins, seductive dark-berry fruit, a touch of white pepper, cola, and a long, refined saline finish. There’s real class and persistence here,  a village wine with genuine poise and quiet intensity.

This is classic Amélie Berthaut: elegant, balanced, and already showing the polish that has made the domaine a rising star.
