René Barbier and his family at Clos Mogador have always chased a pure, powerful expression of Priorat’s wild, mineral landscape rather than a polished, international style. This is the wine that helped put the region back on the map, and they still make it with the same conviction. Focusing on the highly prized, unique type of slate and quartz soil found almost exclusively in the Priorat wine region and letting the Mediterranean character speak clearly.

The 2023 shows a deep, opaque purple-black color with aromas of ripe black and red fruit (blackberry, black cherry, blueberry), wild Mediterranean herbs, slate, graphite, spices, and a touch of smoke and toasted notes. On the palate it is full-bodied yet precise and elegant, with dense but fine tannins, lively acidity, mineral tension, and a generous savory finish.

This is one of the rare Priorat wines awarded the highest official classification, and the 2023 vintage produced less than 30,000 bottles.
