2022 Ochota Barrels The Green Room Grenache

Ochota Barrels is a passion project for Amber Ochota, who wants to make pure, low-intervention, delicious wines with a sense of place and zero pretension.

From old, certified-organic bush vines in McLaren Vale, South Australia. This 100% Grenache shows a shimmering garnet color with aromas of blueberry, white strawberry, lemon-blueberry juice, orange peel, and a touch of stalky spice. The palate is light-bodied, crunchy and lively, with fine sandy tannins, bright acidity, and a mouth-watering, thirst-quenching finish.

It’s made with a high percentage of whole bunch fruit, native yeast, short aging in old barrels, and bottled with minimal sulfur. Exactly the kind of bright, energetic Grenache Amber always aimed for.

This light, crunchy, low-alcohol Grenache pairs best with lighter, flavorful dishes that won’t overpower its delicacy. Think mushroom dishes, vegetable tarts, Salmon or other oily fish. 

It’s also excellent slightly chilled at 55° on its own as an aperitif-style red.
