2021 Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino

Alessandro Mori and his son Lacopo make Brunello the way they believe it should be made—pure, precise, and deeply connected to their North facing slopes just outside the walls of Montalcino. They farm with deliberate minimalism and patience allowing the Sangiovese to speak with clarity and energy rather than weight or extraction. This is the classic Brunello from the estate, and the 2021 is widely considered one of their finest yet! 

It opens with a haunting perfume of rose, peony, lavender, and lilac over dark red cherry, raspberry, and a sweet earthy backdrop. The palate is seamless and silky, floating with depth rather than power. Juicy red fruit, a crunch of minerality, suede like tannins, and a piercing, elegant finish that keeps unfolding.

They age it for 42 months in large oak barrels, and the result is a wine of extraordinary refinement and quiet intensity that already feels complete yet will only grow more profound with age.
